Space for architecture and art
As an architect and artist, I founded the creative and research studio A-SPACE, focused on architecture and art.
After studying architecture in Antwerp and Paris and completing an internship with Bob Van Reeth, I co-founded the firm Verdickt & Verdickt, through which my brother and I received several awards and recognitions. Over time, our architectural vision evolved, shaped by the growing scarcity of resources, space, and nature, shifting our focus from the built object to the space in between.
Later, building on further studies in painting and ceramics at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, I expanded my practice through A-SPACE, a studio that allows me to combine architectural and artistic work with ongoing research into the relationship between the built environment, landscape, and place.
I see architecture and landscape art as deeply connected through the genius loci - the spirit of the place - and I believe that the solution lies within the site itself. Architecturally, I strive to create innovative buildings that feel as though they’ve always been there; artistically, I depict fictional landscapes in which we dwell.
